Anthony Davis leaves the Lakers-Nuggets game with a foot injury.

Lakers forward Anthony Davis sustained a right foot injury against the Denver Nuggets on Friday night and was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Davis appeared to have suffered the injury when he scored on Nikola Jokic while driving to the basket in the first quarter. He played 17 minutes in the first half but did not return to the court after halftime.

The Lakers officially ruled him out about halfway through the third quarter. Davis scored all of his 10 points against the Nuggets in the first quarter.

The 11-year veteran has played a vital role for the Lakers, averaging 28.1 points per game and 12.4 rebounds per game this season. Among the NBA’s best players this season, Davis scored 37 points in a loss to the Boston Celtics on Tuesday and had a season-high 55 points against the Washington Wizards on Dec. 4. He has scored at least 30 points in nine games this season.

Even without Davis, the Lakers closed the third quarter on a 20-5 run against the Nuggets to take a 93-88 lead.
